Chris
Cates's 2001 Masterpiece..
Winner
of 'Album of the Year' at the 2003 Flagpole Music Awards.
By far
Chris Cates's funkiest album. Many of the songs feature a live 8
to 10 piece band that was seasoned by many nights on the road. The
album jumps between southern rock, jazz, funk, ragtime, hip hop
and country, truly an eclectic mix ending with a electronic trance
song.
Featuring
some of the finest players to ever come out of Athens, Georgia including
John Wayne, Dwayne Wallace, Gary Hartle, Seth Hendershot, John Kell,
Mike Elam, Dave Brockway, Jesse Cole, Blood, Coda Baerfider, P-Noid,
4-C and more...
This album
was delayed several times, first by a ruptured radial nerve on Cates's
fretting hand and then a harddrive crash. Cates managed to finish
the album using a special contraption on his wrist allowing him
to play guitar.
The song
'Sugary Jive' received sigificant airplay across the U.S. and Virgin
Islands.
